Blog Talk: Planned Parenthood vs. Planned Marriage

Blog Talk: Planned Parenthood vs. Planned Marriage

I was on twitter this morning on my way to work and someone had tweeted something that caught my attention that inspired today’s topic. Without offending anyone because I am not married nor do I have kids I wanted to shed light on today’s society.
Of course I had to reach out to viewers on Instagram, Facebook Page, for input and I even received some text message responses. I get a lot of feedback in regards to my daily or weekly blog topics so I wanted to make sure I had something for you all today.

Today’s Blog Talk:

What are your thoughts on planned parenthood? People who feel as though they are ready for children but not necessarily ready for marriage . Is it crazy to compare the two? Should women consider the fact that if they are not married when they have children that they are more likely to become a single parent ?

The tweet that inspired today’s talk:

Men who don’t believe in planned parenthood the ones who don’t like how condoms feel and will suggest you take a plan B.

This, caught me because I see daily babies are born and yes babies are blessings but I am sure if under certain circumstances people would have waited for various reasons before becoming a parent. Why is it people are okay with becoming a parent before becoming a husband or wife? Not to say you marriage first, but is it a thought for you in the future at all?

I guess women have to consider that we are more likely to end up a “single parent” if we aren’t married when we become parents.

A married woman with two children:

You can only plan certain aspects of having a child. If it is from when you want to start trying to conceive or how much money you have saved. You might share expectations with your mate on how you want to raise them and what schools you want them to attend.  In reality there is no planning that can really be done for a baby because everything changes after them. Your life is forever altered and the way you think in most cases also.  I don’t believe that marriage is necessary to have children in the day that we live in. In most cases people change after marriage. They start to show their true selves since they no longer have to impress their mate to lock them down. Marriage will not make a man provide for a kid or spend time with them. That is all up to the man who you have a child with. Now a days these guys do not want to grow up they want to do the things that they did prior to having true responsibilities. It takes a real man to know what is important and make the necessary sacrifices. Marrying someone before having children doesn’t mean that you won’t still end up being a single parent. You can be married and end up doing all the work just like a single parent or you can get divorced and still become a single parent.  My advice would  be to be careful picking a mate and always listen to the signs good or bad. Marriage isn’t needed if you two are on the same page of building a solid future together. Children are the best blessings ever and everyone should experience it but if you  don’t get married I believe you should still try to have a child someday regardless of having to be a single parent. Mothers do it all anyway we are a lot stronger than we look. On the flip if you find a mate that is willing to work with you and not against you that is a blessing and you will have best of both worlds!

I’m sure when we start dating someone you think long-term, no one wants to waste their time and I’m sure nobody sets out to be a single parent. We can’t predict the future.

A single guy with no children:

I think planned parent hood can be a good thing if both people are ready and have understood what being a parent is. Because bringing in a new life is something that can’t be measured by numbers. But I feel its more risky when you are not married because feels change people change then it’s who does the child go with if there is a split who takes the responsibility more than another really. Things such as insurance care etc all factor in. It’s not a puppy to split but a life a piece of each person. Marriages doesn’t mean commitment or happiness either as we have seen people get divorced but when it comes to children your selection should be that much harder esp for woman because men won’t always admit it but a woman with a child always comes with caution as it’s a responsibility to take hold of that was not planned and you were not their from the beginning. Forces boys to become men and some are not ready for that.

A guy in a relationship with children from a previous relationship:

I feel like everyone should plan and be married first before children. Not that it would guarantee they’re going to stay together but it’s better for the kids to be raised in that type of environment.

A marriage woman with 1 child:

Planned parenthood is so huge just
Imagine how many people feel like their clock is ticking! I think a lot of people may view marriage as something that can happen anytime but having kids is more strategic. I don’t know being a single parent would seem too stressful I don’t know how people do it. I think people know that they’ll be single parents but we all have the urge to have kids to leave a piece of us here.

With all of the responses shared, I can we where they are coming from and I can see that they are speaking from experience. My preference has always been to have children after I am married simply because I did not have parents who were married but they did do their best co-parenting. I also seen friends and relatives go through the motions of having absent parents or being a single parent and I did not want to experience that. As best as I can I would love to walk down the aisle before delivering my first child. My goal has never been to be a “baby’s mother”, but in all reality no one has that as a goal things between two people just don’t work out. It is very important to get to know the individual you are dating and ask yourself do I want them in life long-term, if things don’t work out can I co-parent with them for 18 years?

There are too many baby showers and not enough weddings. I hope today’s topic made you think. Feel free to share your comments below.

I have been busy working, working out, and visiting family in the hospital that I have no time to stop and shop. I wanted to share the latest products I purchased from makeup to facial cleansing and makeup tools.

If you missed my favorite YouTube beauty bloggers post, definitely take a visit to see my top 5. One of those ladies happens to be Makeup Shayla, she has shared some products she using in the morning and at night as her daily facial cleansing routine.

The Master Palette by Mario is a collaboration with Anastasia Beverly Hills. It has been sold out on the AB website , but Ulta came through! The retail price is 45.00. This is definitely the first high-end eye shadow that I have purchased , meaning the most expensive. The only eye shadow I have purchases were E.L.f Cosmetics and Sonia Kushnik both less than $30.00. I will use this palette for my next makeup tutorial. This palette includes 10 shimmering shades perfect for the colder season, you can create multiple day and night makeup looks. I’m more of a matte eyeshadow gal, but I will give this a try and it even comes with a brush!

Writers Block

Writers Block

It has been 6 days since my last blog post, and I know to some it may not seem like a long time. For me I’d like to blog every two days to stay consistent for my viewers. I have been going through a lot with my personal life in regards to my immediate family and it has prevented me from being able to focus and dedicate time to blogging.

You ever feel like you have so much to say but don’t know where to begin? Maybe you have so much on your mind but you’re unable to put it into words for people to comprehend. That is me about 75% of the time. I started writing in notebooks when I was in high school. I was very close with my mother she was the one I would come home to and tell her about my day, tell her about boy crushes, or females I fell out with or befriended. Other times I would just write in my notebook and later if I felt down I would go back and reflect.

I appreciate when people see me out or contact me via Twitter and inquire about the blog or when’s the next blog post or if I still have a blog. I appreciate when people notice when I don’t think people pay attention.

This post is to update you all as to why its been a week since my last blog post and what’s been on my mind. Writing is a form of therapy and as you write and look back at what you wrote , months or years later, you learn about yourself. You can see how you’ve overcome obstacles, and think about the mind state you were in at that moment.

I’m open to collaborative blog posts, whether it’s makeup, natural hair tutorials, topics, or style or the day. If you have questions you’d like for me to answer on the blog or do a blog post on a certain topic, feel free to e-mail at

My First Brazilian Wax Experience

My First Brazilian Wax Experience

I wanted to share my experience with you ladies, for those of you who are thinking about it but too nervous, and even for those who get the service done monthly, everyone’s experience is different.

The style of waxing a woman’s pubic hair in which all of the hair is removed

Yes, I am in my late twenties and I’ve never had a Brazilian Wax before. I started getting my eyebrows waxed in my early twenties. Something about wax and strips that terrify me. So, yes all of my life I’ve shaved the va jay jay. It was time to conquer my fear.

I’ve made an appointment before for a Brazilian wax but I canceled because I was a punk. Fast forward months later, it’s time to give up shaving and bring on the wax. I made my appointment online at the European Wax Center. I have friends that go to this place for different services and they have over 700 locations in the United States.

I don’t know about you but when I visit a place for the first time or I want to try something new, I research on Google and or YouTube. Watching YouTube videos may not have been a good idea because the ladies I watched were hysterical, flinching, eyes watering, screaming. I contemplated canceling this appointment. I asked a few friends that experienced the Brazilian wax and I received mixed reviews. One friend went one time for prom and she cried. Another friend told me she is a Brazilian wax advocate, whereas my cousin told me , “…if you can laugh during a tattoo, you can go get a Brazilian wax..” She had a point.

My appointment was a Saturday morning, first errand of the day. Might as well get it over with and go on about my day. I arrived 10 minutes early. The receptionist greeted me, asked me a few questions and I was signed in. Five minutes later I met my specialist,Alex. She was pleasant and welcoming. The moment of truth arises as I walked down the hall into the room.

No need to stand around , off came the leggings and sandals. I laid on my back as she prepared the wax and tools. She asked me if it was my first time and I replied , “yes”. I appreciate honesty, she was straight forward, “the first time is always the worse, and then after that it’s not so bad”.

She proceeded to explain the process and that European Wax Center uses their own wax and it’s not harsh on the skin. Of course the wax is heated, once it is set, she rips it off quickly. Take a deep breath, and exhale. The pain has to be an 8, on a scaled of 1-10. We had a whole conversation during the procedure and it took my mind off of the expectations of pain. I forgot to mention, that I had waited awhile before making the appointment and it was a month since I last shaved, just so that there was enough to grip.

She goes over the area once which is the toughest layer, and then a second time to get what is left over with small strips, that part didn’t hurt as much and she assured me moving forward my next appointment would feel like that. You have to turn over on your back and squeeze your cheeks open, awkward for sure. Especially when the wax was put on, and surprisingly this didn’t hurt at all.

Ten minutes later we were done, she put on the Smooth Me Ingrown Hair Serum. Alex recommends to put it on daily after showering.I didn’t know how long I thought it would be, but it was over quick and that’s what I like. No tears, no eyes watering, no screams, I was all clear. I guess because I expected pain and I expected it to be unbearable, I was mentally prepared.

The cost of a Brazilian wax is $47 , when it is your first time you receive half off,  I purchased the serum which was $22, and because of how much I spent, I received a free tote. I also made my next appointment four weeks from now with Alex.

Have you had a brazilian wax before, what was your experience like? Share in the comments below.
